February 21, 2021 Worship first Sunday in Lent

Join the Adult Education group in reading and discussing A Paradise Built in Hell by Rebecca Solnit from February 21 through March 28.  Adult Education discussions are Sundays at 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. via Zoom

The book reviews five major disasters, from the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. It shows how what actually happens in a disaster is very different from what most people think and believe.  To quote the book jacket, people don’t simply “rise to the occasion . . . they do so with joy.”   What sparks this joy?  What are its implications for our everyday lives?  Do we need a disaster in order to uncover the generosity of the human spirit?  The group will explore these and other questions raised by Solnit from 9:15 to 10:20 each Sunday morning.
